Under the new agreement, Abridge’s platform will be scaled to nurses, advanced practitioners, and physicians across Hartford HealthCare.

Abridge, a generative AI platform for clinical conversations, is partnering with Connecticut-based healthcare network Hartford HealthCare to expand its clinical documentation tools across the health system.

The collaboration follows a successful pilot within Hartford's network.

The Pennsylvania-based company, founded in 2018, provides an AI platform that converts medical conversations into clinically functional and billable documentation at the point of care.

Under the new agreement, Abridge’s platform will be scaled to nurses, advanced practitioners, and physicians across Hartford HealthCare.

Looking ahead, both companies plan to explore applications of ambient AI to support revenue cycle management, nursing workflows, point-of-care decision-making, and value-based care initiatives.

Dr. Barry Stein, vice president and chief clinical innovation officer at Hartford HealthCare, highlighted the platform's impact on clinical workflows, saying, "The notes built from the conversations with clinicians and their patients are the foundation of the patient record, and capturing them effortlessly has an outsized impact on both the patient's and the clinician's experience. Abridge understands this, and their vision is aligned with ours."

Series E Funding and Strategic Growth

Abridge raised $300 million in Series E funding in June, bringing its valuation to $5.3 billion. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) with participation from Khosla Ventures. This funding followed a $250 million Series D round announced just four months prior. In 2022, Abridge secured $12.5 million in Series A-1 funding.

Over the past two years, Abridge has formed multiple healthcare partnerships. In 2024, it collaborated with Northern California-based Sutter Health, extending access to its clinical documentation tools for Sutter clinicians. Subsequent partnerships with Epic and Mayo Clinic enabled integration of Abridge’s generative AI platform into Epic’s electronic health records for Mayo Clinic nurses. Earlier this year, Inova Health also selected Abridge as its system-wide generative AI solution to improve clinical documentation for its care teams.
