As per latest reports, the service, currently operational in Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, covers over 450 PIN codes and offers access to more than 800 diagnostic tests.

Amazon is officially staking its claim in India's booming INR 1 lakh Cr diagnostics market. The company last week announced Amazon Diagnostics, an at-home healthcare service allowing customers to book lab tests and access reports directly via the Amazon app.

As per latest reports, the service, currently operational in Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, covers over 450 PIN codes and offers access to more than 800 diagnostic tests.

Partnering with Orange Health for test operations, Amazon is integrating diagnostics alongside Amazon Clinic for doctor consultations and Amazon Pharmacy for medicine delivery, creating a seamless outpatient experience on a single platform.

"Customers can seamlessly consult doctors through Amazon Clinic, schedule diagnostic tests with Amazon Diagnostics, and order the prescribed medicines via Amazon Pharmacy,” said Jayaramakrishnan Balasubramanian, Category Head, Amazon Medical India.

Industry leaders believe Amazon's entry will upend expectations in at least two areas, speed of delivery and structure of service.

Experts also point to Amazon's long-term advantage: data. With its tech muscle, the company could enable hyper-personalised health offerings, predictive care recommendations, and loyalty-driven health plans.

Currently active in six cities, the move offers 60-minute pickups and 6-hour reports.

For now, all eyes are on how quickly Amazon's diagnostics play scales, and how India's diagnostics giants respond.
