The 5G connectivity enables continuous transmission of critical health parameters such as blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and heart rate from the ambulance to hospital teams.

Artemis Hospitals, in collaboration with emergency service provider Medulance, has introduced a 5G-enabled ambulance in Gurugram.

The solution uses 5G and AI-powered telemedicine to deliver enhanced emergency healthcare to patients before they reach the hospital.

In a statement shared on its website, Artemis Hospitals noted, "You can now receive rapid, real-time medical support even before reaching the hospital."

The 5G connectivity enables continuous transmission of critical health parameters such as blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and heart rate from the ambulance to hospital teams. This allows medical professionals to assess the patient’s condition remotely and provide timely guidance to paramedics during transit.

The ambulance also includes AI systems that track patient vitals, detect warning signs, and notify medical staff of any concerning changes. This integration effectively transforms the ambulance into a mobile emergency unit, helping clinicians make informed decisions en route.

Artemis and Medulance highlighted the need for such systems, referencing data that nearly 24,012 deaths occur daily in India due to delays in emergency care.

Research from AIIMS and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) shows that only 10.8% of patients in India reach a suitable facility within the first hour of symptom onset.

"This initiative represents a leap forward in emergency medical response," said Vishal Arora, Chief of Business Transformation and Operational Excellence at Artemis Hospitals.

"By combining the speed and reliability of 5G with real-time, data-driven medical support, we can significantly improve patient outcomes," he added.

In a related effort, RED.Health recently partnered with Medanta Hospital, Lucknow, to launch Uttar Pradesh’s first 5G-enabled ambulance.

The 5G-enabled ambulance combines real-time connectivity with advanced medical care, allowing hospital specialists to guide pre-hospital treatment and improve survival rates.
