Arunachal Pradesh’s East Kameng district has achieved a significant milestone in healthcare delivery with the successful drone-based transport of hepatitis vaccines from the District Hospital in Seppa to the Primary Health Centre in Bameng.

The initiative was carried out under the Drone-Based Doorstep Diagnostic Service Project, aimed at improving last-mile healthcare access in remote regions.

According to the District Information and Public Relations Office (DIPRO), the use of drones for medical logistics has helped reduce delivery time, ensure timely immunization, and strengthen the healthcare infrastructure across the district.

The project is part of a larger push to integrate technology into public health systems, aligning with efforts to enhance healthcare equity in geographically challenging areas.

In a similar development, months back, An AI-driven mental health self-assessment tool developed by INFIHEAL was introduced at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) and the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRHIMS) at Arunachal Pradesh.

The tool, backed by AMTRON and the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW), Government of India, aims to enhance the identification and management of mental health concerns. It uses AI algorithms to provide individuals with insights into their mental health, allowing for early detection of issues and enabling timely interventions.

The tool's introduction sparks discussions on integrating artificial intelligence into mental healthcare, with a focus on improving accessibility and accuracy in diagnosis and treatment planning.
