New York-based healthcare AI company Ascertain has raised $10 million in a Series A funding round led by Deerfield Management, with participation from Northwell Health.

Ascertain’s platform provides a unified interface for case managers, centralizing fragmented workflows and automating documentation and prior authorization tasks. The company seeks to improve operational efficiency in healthcare systems already strained by workforce shortages.
Platform Designed to Ease Administrative Load
Commenting on the funding development, Mark Michalski, CEO of Ascertain, said, “There’s a critical need to develop and implement AI solutions to improve operational efficiencies, ease the administrative burden on payers and providers, and facilitate information sharing.”
He further added that collaborating with Deerfield, Northwell, and Aegis provides Ascertain access to a range of distribution channels, workflows, and data, which will unlock new levels of efficiency for healthcare workers.
The company’s technology is intended to support healthcare workers by minimizing manual data entry and form completion, enabling them to spend more time on direct patient care. Current estimates suggest that case managers spend up to 60% of their time on paperwork and administrative compliance.
Pilot with Northwell Shows Promising Results
As part of its collaboration with Deerfield, Ascertain will move its operations to Cure, Deerfield’s health innovation campus in New York.
Additionally, CEO Mark Michalski will take on the role of Chief Information Officer at Deerfield Management while continuing to lead Ascertain.
