The new tool uses deep learning models trained on thousands of clinical images to detect signs of hair loss.

Bengaluru-based startup Cureskin, known for its artificial intelligence (AI)-based dermatology solutions, has announced the launch of an AI-powered hair analyser that can detect early signs of male pattern baldness and monitor hairline health.

The feature will be available through the Cureskin mobile app and is designed to help users identify hair thinning and recession at earlier stages.

Instant Hairline Analysis Through a Selfie

The new tool uses deep learning models trained on thousands of clinical images to detect signs of hair loss.

With a simple selfie uploaded to the app, users receive an automated assessment of their hairline, including insights into thinning patterns and density changes.

Based on the analysis, the app provides recommendations for follow-up care and treatment options.

Ramakrishna R, Chief Technology Officer at Cureskin, said the integration of AI and machine learning into the app helps identify hair loss indicators with a high degree of accuracy.

“Our models are designed to improve over time with more data, offering users timely information and access to appropriate care,” he said.

Cureskin’s initiative comes at a time when male pattern baldness is a growing concern in India. Studies suggest that more than half of Indian men experience some degree of hair loss by the age of 50, with early signs often appearing in their 20s.

Factors such as genetics, stress, and lifestyle choices contribute to the condition, making early detection important for effective management.

The AI-powered feature aims to improve access to dermatological tools, especially in semi-urban and rural areas where expert consultation is often limited.

By using technology to support hair health monitoring, Cureskin seeks to offer a structured approach to managing hair-related concerns and delivering timely intervention for users.
