Defense Minister Rajnath Singh Stresses Technological Advancements in Army Medical Corps

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has emphasized the importance of technological advancements in military healthcare.
During a recent event at the Army Hospital (Research & Referral), Delhi Cantonment, the minister emphasized the need for the Army Medical Corps (AMC) to integrate the latest innovations to enhance medical services for soldiers.
Singh acknowledged the global transformation of the medical sector through Artificial Intelligence (AI), advanced research, and modern medical practices.
He encouraged AMC to continue adopting cutting-edge technologies to ensure high-quality healthcare services for military personnel.
He particularly emphasized simulator-based training, which utilizes machine-based learning to help medical professionals achieve precision in medical procedures.
Additionally, Singh advocated the establishment of additional research and training centers to enhance medical expertise among AMC personnel.
Dual-Use Technologies & Civil-Military Collaboration
The Defence Minister underscored the importance of developing dual-use technologies, which can be beneficial for both defense and civilian healthcare systems.
He stressed that civil-military collaboration in defense technology would contribute to overall national development.
Singh lauded AMC’s partnerships with premier academic institutions, including the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), as well as international medical organizations.
He also urged AMC to explore training medical professionals from developing and underdeveloped countries, positioning India as a leader in military medical diplomacy.
Strengthening Combat Medical Readiness
Singh commended AMC for enhancing combat medical readiness by introducing Advanced Mobile Surgical Units and Rapid Response Medical Teams.
He highlighted the role of Indigenous Trauma Management Systems and AI-powered medical triage systems in improving emergency response times and patient care.
Furthermore, he acknowledged AMC’s continued commitment to serving ex-servicemen and their families, ensuring they receive quality healthcare beyond their years of active duty.
During his address, Singh made a special mention of Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, the first female Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS).
He described her as a symbol of growing female leadership (Nari Shakti) in the military, recognizing her role in advancing medical services within the armed forces.
On the occasion, Singh presented the Raksha Mantri Trophy for excellence in military healthcare.
INHS Asvini, Mumbai, was awarded the best hospital in the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) for 2024, while Command Hospital, Western Command, Chandimandir, Haryana, was recognized as the second-best hospital.
The Defence Minister concluded by applauding AMC’s contributions to modernizing infrastructure, improving healthcare services, and implementing policy reforms to strengthen India’s military medical ecosystem.
