Dr Mandaviya Inaugurates Numerous Health Projects In Assam Worth INR 121.51 Cr

The infrastructure project in Assam will be worth INR 121.51 Cr. This initiative aims to strengthen the state's healthcare system, and offer advanced technology to keep up with the needs of the time.

Union Health Minister, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has laid the foundation stone and inaugurated a few health infrastructure projects in Assam under the Pradhan Mantri-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), National Health Mission (NHM) and XV Finance Commission Health Grants.

Reportedly, the infrastructure project in Assam will be worth INR121.51 Cr. This initiative aims to strengthen the state's healthcare system, and offer advanced technology to keep up with the needs of the time.

The minister laid the foundation stone for a 50 bedded Critical Care Block at Lakhimpur Medical College; Block Primary Health Units at Block Primary Health Centres (BPHCs) of Baithalangso, Harinagar, Saphekhati, and Suakuchi; and Block Primary Health Units at North Guwahati Primary Health Centre under PM-ABHIM. 

Along with the Integrated Public Health Laboratory at Jakhalabandha SDHC under PM-ABHIM and Sasoni Community Health Centre under XV-FC Health Grants.

Further, the health minister inaugurated projects including the upgradation of Bhetagaon CHC to Bijni SDCH; Community Health Centre and Residential Quarters at Chenga, Barpeta District; the upgradation of 100 Bedded RNB Gossaiagaon SDCH; Community Health Centre and Residential Quarters at Nityanandpur, Hailakandi District; Community Health Centre and Residential Quarters at Haluwating, Sivasagar District; Community Health Centre and Residential Quarters at Nasatra, Barpeta District; upgradation of Tamulpur BPHC to SDCH; and strengthening of Titabor SDCH.

At the inauguration, the Health Minister said, 'œWe need to make healthcare affordable and accessible through holistic development of robust healthcare infrastructure while prioritizing research and development and initiatives such as Heal in India, Heal by India'.

'œHealthcare infrastructure should consolidate integration at block, district, and regional levels to monitor surveillance of any new variant or disease entering our nation,' he added.

In his speech, he cited the example of medical colleges in Assam teaching the Japanese language to facilitate the placement of the Indian medical workforce abroad. 

He added that India's vision of healthcare services extends to opportunities across the world wherein the skilled health workforce of the nation can easily pursue global opportunities.

In a recent development, Assam CM launched the Mukhya Mantri Lok Sewak Arogya Yojana for medical bill reimbursement. Under this initiative, medical bills will be reimbursed at rates equivalent to those of the Central Government Health Schemes (CGHS). The reimbursement will be directly credited to the accounts of the claimant employees within a defined time frame.
