Govt of Arunachal Pradesh Signs MoU with Religare Care Foundation & Sir Ganga Ram Hospital to Improve Healthcare in the State

The MoU aims to address the skills gap in the healthcare sector. Additionally, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in collaboration with Religare Care Foundation (RCF) will offer technical assistance to GoAP to strengthen the hill state's tertiary healthcare systems and infrastructure. 

In an initiative to improve the state's healthcare services, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh (GoAP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Religare Group's CSR arm Religare Care Foundation (RCF) in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh.

The MoU aims to address the skills gap in the healthcare sector. Additionally, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in collaboration with Religare Care Foundation (RCF) will offer technical assistance to GoAP to strengthen the hill state's tertiary healthcare systems and infrastructure. 

As an initial project, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and its advisory team will establish a Centre of Excellence for Renal Sciences at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS).

The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, Minister of Health, Government of Arunachal Pradesh Alo Libang, Dr Satendra Katoch, director -Medical, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, and Dr Rashmi Saluja, executive chairperson, Religare Enterprises Ltd among others. 

Expressing his views at the association, Shri Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh said, "The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is a step forward to fulfill the vision of providing affordable, accessible and equitable Health care services to the people of Arunachal Pradesh. It is an endeavour of the Government to bring the best of the tertiary health care services near to home thereby reducing the cost and also the psychological trauma the family has to go through for seeking such medical care. By joining hands with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Religare group, we look forward to bringing about changes that positively impact the lives of the people and also the entire Health care landscape of the State"

Reportedly, in a span of five years, the Arunachal government reduced the healthcare service gap in the state from 34% to 6%. Further, the state benefits from various central government schemes such as Ayushman Bharat and the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS). Through the Ayushman Bharat scheme, the state has significantly enhanced its healthcare services with the establishment of health and wellness centres and dispensaries.

Different state governments launching several digital healthcare schemes has been increasing by the day. In another development, the Health Department of Haryana is set to start the Ayushman Bhava campaign on September 17.  It aims to ensure the efficient delivery of central health schemes to eligible beneficiaries. The campaign includes door-to-door awareness drives and health camps that will continue till December 31.

Further, in another such related instance, the  TN government has invited entrepreneurs to design mobile outreach and therapy units for differently-abled in order to engage entrepreneurs and innovators with expertise in healthcare, mobility, and assistive technology.
