In a major boost for breast cancer screening in the region, Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital has launched South Asia’s first Genius AI 3D Mammography system.

The diagnostic tool combines advanced imaging technology with artificial intelligence to deliver faster, more accurate breast cancer detection.

Capable of completing scans in just 3.7 seconds, the fastest in the industry, the AI-enabled system enhances detection rates of invasive breast cancers by up to 65% compared to standard 2D mammography, while reducing radiation exposure by 45%. It also offers clearer 3D images, quicker diagnoses, and fewer repeat visits, significantly improving patient experience and clinical outcomes.

Especially effective for women with dense breast tissue, breast implants, or claustrophobia, the system reduces compression time without compromising image clarity. It further supports contrast-enhanced mammography and vacuum-assisted biopsy procedures.

“This technology marks a transformative step in detecting breast cancer at earlier, sub-clinical stages with greater precision,” said Dr Ashutosh Kothari, director of breast cancer services at the hospital.

Dr Tarang Gianchandani, Group CEO, added, “The introduction of Genius AI 3D Mammography is a crucial advancement in closing the gap in timely screenings and ensuring more women receive early, life-saving care.”

Located in South Mumbai, Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital is a 360-bed quaternary care facility, accredited by JCI and NABH, and recognized as Mumbai’s largest Gold Certified Green Hospital.
