Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health has launched Epic across its 33 hospitals and six-state footprint.

The health system went live recently, two years after signing a deal to switch to the vendor from Oracle Health.

“We put substantial support in place, including ‘around-the-clock’ command centers, at‑the‑elbow and super‑user coverage, and an Epic coaching hotline to help caregivers during the first weeks,” Intermountain Chief Digital and Information Officer Ryan Smith told Becker’s.

“The result is a single, connected EHR for our patients and caregivers, delivered on schedule, with continuous improvements happening every week.”

Intermountain declined to disclose the Financial details. For its implementation, Intermountain opted for a “big-bang” launch favored by Epic and many health systems nowadays, turning the EHR on at all locations simultaneously.

“Our extensive preparations included standardizing on Epic’s foundation system, completing rigorous technical and workflow testing, and training caregivers ahead of go‑live to ensure that we could transition safely,” Smith said.

“This enabled our teams to move more quickly into [the] stabilization and optimization phases.”
