The healthcare CoE will focus on developing technologies such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Keysight Technologies, a global provider of network testing and measurement solutions, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research (SAMEER) to jointly pursue research and development (R&D) in healthcare and sixth-generation (6G) communication technologies.

SAMEER, an R&D organization under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), is known for its work in applied electronics, particularly in healthcare systems and advanced communications.

The MoU was signed to facilitate the creation of a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for healthcare and a research lab focused on 6G technology.

Driving India's 6G Ambitions

As part of the agreement, Keysight will support SAMEER in setting up advanced laboratories to conduct 6G research across Indian academic and research institutions.

The collaboration builds on SAMEER's ongoing work in telecommunications, including the development of an indigenous 5G stack in partnership with IIT Madras.

"The proposed collaboration with Keysight will enhance ongoing research efforts and enable wider access to next-generation technologies for academic and research institutions," said P. Hanumantha Rao, Director-General at SAMEER.

Focus on Advanced Medical Technologies

The healthcare CoE will focus on developing technologies such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

SAMEER has already developed a cost-effective 1.5T MRI system and an indigenous Linear Accelerator (LINAC) for cancer treatment.

The collaboration aims to expand access to such innovations and promote further development.

Sudhir Tangri, Vice President of Asia Pacific Sales and Country General Manager for India at Keysight, said, "Establishing a center of excellence and building 6G research capabilities is a critical step toward fostering innovation in India."

The partnership, through shared expertise and infrastructure, is expected to strengthen India's position in next-gen communication and healthcare technologies.
