Maharashtra to Develop Mobile App for Student Health Check-ups
The proposed app will serve as a centralized platform for scheduling health check-ups, tracking student health records, and facilitating medical care.
Maharashtra's School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse has announced plans to develop a dedicated mobile application to ensure that students do not miss their health check-ups.
The initiative is part of the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), or National Child Health Programme, which aims to provide systematic and timely medical care to students across the state.
The announcement was made during a high-level meeting attended by Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar and senior officials from the School Education and Public Health Departments.
Bhuse highlighted the need for a structured system to track student health and ensure follow-up treatments through RBSK.
The proposed app will serve as a centralized platform to schedule health check-ups, track student health records, and facilitate medical care.
Bhuse directed officials to study the health check-up applications already in use in Nashik and Daman to incorporate their best features into the new state-wide platform.
A senior official from the Education Department emphasized that the app will help ensure consistent health assessments and better medical outcomes for students.
"Ensuring the health and well-being of students is a top priority. The app and a structured health check-up calendar will provide a systematic approach to medical care, allowing timely intervention," the official stated.
Structured Health Check-Up Calendar
In addition to the app, a year-long health check-up calendar will be created in coordination with the School Education and Public Health Departments.
This will ensure that students and parents are informed in advance of scheduled health check-ups, improving participation and follow-up care.
Bhuse also called for a district-wise review of the Student Accident Relief Grant Scheme to resolve pending cases swiftly.
He stressed the importance of raising awareness among teachers so that students and their parents can independently access support in case of an accident.
Public Health Minister Abitkar underscored the significance of student health and directed the Health Department to guarantee comprehensive screening of all students under RBSK.
