National Institute of Mental Health Rehabilitation Inaugurated in Sehore, MP

Built with an initial project cost of INR 127 Cr, the institute aims to significantly advance mental health rehabilitation services across the country, especially for the Divyangjan (persons with disabilities).

The National Institute of Mental Health Rehabilitation (NIMHR) has been inaugurated in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, by Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr Virendra Kumar.

Built with an initial project cost of INR 127 Cr, the institute aims to significantly advance mental health rehabilitation services across the country, especially for Divyangjan (persons with disabilities).

NIMHR features state-of-the-art infrastructure and includes four major blocks: the Service Block, Administrative & Academic Block, Hostel Block, and Studio Apartments.

The campus is also home to a Cross Disability Early Intervention Centre (CDEIC), which will soon begin operations.

Additionally, the institute houses a Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra (PMDK), which will facilitate the distribution of aids and appliances to Divyangjan and senior citizens.

In his address during the inauguration, Dr Kumar emphasized the importance of this facility in empowering individuals with disabilities and improving their quality of life.
