NHM Haryana Launches SARTHAK to Improve Healthcare Accountability & Service Delivery

The Health Department of Haryana has introduced a new initiative under the National Health Mission (NHM), titled SARTHAK — Systematic Assessment and Resilient Transformation in Health Accountability and Knowledge.

According to Dr Virender Yadav, Director, NHM Haryana, SARTHAK provides a structured framework for assessing healthcare infrastructure and frontline health workers.
“Through this initiative, dedicated teams from NHM Haryana Headquarters and the Directorate of Health Services will conduct on-ground evaluations across all districts — covering facilities ranging from District Hospitals to Sub-Centres,” he said.
As part of the initiative, the performance of frontline health workers, including Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), will be assessed.
The visiting teams will also interact with community members to gather feedback on the performance of healthcare facilities and the implementation of NHM programs at the local level.
Data-Driven Reports to Guide District Health Planning
After each district visit, the teams will prepare detailed reports for submission to the respective Deputy Commissioners and Civil Surgeons.
These reports are intended to support district administrations in identifying gaps, improving resource utilization, and strengthening the implementation of health schemes.
Dr Yadav noted that SARTHAK aims to foster continuous improvement through structured assessments and active community engagement.
