Odisha Deputy CM Highlights Role of Medical Technology in Advancing Healthcare
Deputy CM also reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure.
Odisha Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo emphasized the impact of medical technology on increasing life expectancy, particularly through telemedicine and advanced surgical techniques.
Speaking at the Odisha Operative Arthroscopy Course (OOAC) 2025, organized by the Odisha Arthroscopy Society and Kalinga Hospital, he reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure.
“We are allocating more resources for doctor recruitment and adopting cutting-edge medical technology to ensure people receive quality treatment within the state,” he stated.
He also praised initiatives like the arthroscopy course, which contribute to enhancing expertise in minimally invasive surgeries.
Course Director and senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Ranajit Panigrahi highlighted the significance of arthroscopy in treating sports injuries, allowing athletes to recover faster and return to their passion.
The event showcased advancements in minimally invasive surgical techniques, benefiting both medical professionals and patients.
In another development, last month, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized the need for targeted efforts to enhance healthcare services in the state’s underdeveloped regions.
He highlighted the government’s focus on strengthening healthcare infrastructure and patient care to bridge existing gaps.
With an allocation of INR 21,000 Cr for healthcare in the 2024-25 budget, Majhi acknowledged that despite substantial funding, a lack of awareness continues to contribute to the disease burden.
He also noted that of the INR 13 lakh Cr investment proposals received at the Utkarsh Odisha conclave, INR 50,000 Cr is designated for the health sector, expected to generate 25,000 jobs.
Additionally, he reaffirmed the role of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which benefits 60 Cr people nationwide, in expanding healthcare access in Odisha.
