Providence Alaska Appoints John G. Hill as Interim Chief Executive
Ella Goss, who retired after nearly three decades with Providence Alaska, served in various nursing and leadership roles.
Providence Alaska has named John G. Hill as its interim chief executive following the retirement of former chief executive Ella Goss on August 1, 2025.
Hill brings more than 20 years of executive-level experience in healthcare. He previously served for over six years as president and CEO at Bozeman Health, a faith-based, nonprofit health system in Montana. His leadership tenure also includes roles at PeaceHealth in Eugene, Oregon, where he was senior vice president and CEO for the health system’s western Oregon region. He also served as president and CEO at the Aurora Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado.
During his career, Hill has overseen complex operational functions across multiple states and worked on strategic initiatives to optimize health care delivery. Since departing from Bozeman Health, Hill has taken on various consulting roles, including a Medicaid project in Oklahoma to expand primary care access through collaboration with the state hospital association and local leaders.
Providence stated that a committee composed of its executives and community board members has initiated a national search for a permanent chief executive.
