RMLIMS Announces New 1,000-Bed Hospital in UP

The expansion aims to boost healthcare infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, addressing the growing demand for specialized medical services.

Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) in Lucknow is set to expand its healthcare offerings with a new 1,000-bed hospital.

The institute’s director, Professor CM Singh, announced the news during the fourth Foundation Day celebrations.

The new hospital is expected to be completed within two years and will include advanced facilities such as a neuroscience center and robotic surgery services.

"The proposal is ready, and work will begin shortly. We aim to complete the hospital within two years. The neuroscience center will open in a few months, while robotic surgery services should start within six months," said Director Singh.

Furthermore, the expansion aims to boost healthcare infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, addressing the growing demand for specialized medical services.

In addition to improving access to healthcare, the development will create job opportunities for doctors, paramedics, and support staff.

Prof Singh added that the new hospital near the Shaheed Path referral facility would significantly benefit medical students.

"Currently, MBBS students travel about 8 km between their hostel and the main institute in Gomti Nagar. This new hospital will ease that burden and enhance their learning experience," he said.

Unveiling New Facilities

During the foundation day celebrations, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurated several new facilities at RMLIMS.

These include a 15-story hostel for 326 students, a 10-story faculty residence, and a 30-bed emergency triage area. The new infrastructure is part of the state’s broader efforts to improve medical education and healthcare delivery.

"So far, over 1.5 lakh patients have been treated in the emergency department. Over 6,000 angiographies and angioplasties have been performed in the cardiology department. Additionally, 1,500 complex neurosurgeries and 1,200 gastro-surgeries have been successfully conducted. More than 12,000 cancer patients have received chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and the urology department has completed over 200 kidney transplants," Prof Singh noted.

Commenting on the same, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh said, "RMLIMS has become a crucial part of the state’s healthcare network, attracting patients from across the country due to its specialized services," he remarked.

During the event, CM Adityanath also felicitated several distinguished doctors from RMLIMS, including Prof Jyotsna Agarwal (microbiology), Prof Madhup Rastogi (radiation oncology), and Prof Deepak Kumar Singh (neurosurgery), recognizing their contributions to medical science and patient care.
