Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai has recently installed an advanced open MRI machine. The newly introduced open MRI system addresses a common concern among patients—claustrophobia. Traditional MRI machines often confine patients in a narrow, enclosed space, which can be distressing for those who suffer from anxiety or discomfort in such environments.

This development is particularly beneficial for senior patients and those with physical limitations, as it allows for easier positioning and a less intimidating imaging process.

This advanced medical imaging technology aims to enhance patient comfort and provide comprehensive diagnostic capabilities.

Advanced Features for Superior Diagnostics

A standout feature of the new open MRI system is the integration of a technology known as Velocity. This advanced feature caters to the needs of physicians, technologists, and patients by delivering high-quality images quickly and efficiently.

The system includes integrated lighting and a wide table for patient ease, while soft sound gradient technology ensures a quieter, more comfortable scan.

Velocity's capabilities are further enhanced with motion-compensated RADAR technology, which produces enhanced diagnostic sequences even in challenging cases.

The system's lowering table and in-bore lateral movement allow for pain-free positioning, making it particularly advantageous for elderly patients.

Redefining Image Quality & Efficiency

The open MRI system at Sir H N Reliance Hospital is designed to redefine image quality with its high resolution and superior diagnostic performance.

Utilizing Standard IP-RAPID technology for parallel imaging, sparse sampling, and iterative processing, the system enhances image resolution along with significantly reducing exam time.

Features such as blanket coils and integrated coil technology expedite the imaging process, ensuring precise patient positioning and a streamlined interface for technologists. Automatic coil selection further boosts efficiency, allowing for a smoother and quicker imaging experience.

In a similar development, Fujifilm India installed an Open MRI machine, "APERTO Lucent," at the B2C diagnostic chain Vijaya Diagnostic Center in Hyderabad in March. The APERTO Lucent is a Prime Open MRI device equipped with IP-RAPID, a modern technique that reduces scan times while maintaining high image quality.

Moreover, this device employs under-sampling and image reconstruction with iterative processing which results in improved image quality with higher spatial resolution. Further, the design of APERTO Lucent offers high-speed solutions combined with a better patient experience.
