This development follows the recent acquisition of Luminello, a platform specializing in EHR and practice management for mental health professionals.

US-based SimplePractice, a platform in electronic health records (EHR) and practice management, has introduced a new prescription management tool, ePrescribe, marking its entry into the psychiatry sector.

This development follows the recent acquisition of Luminello, a platform specializing in EHR and practice management for mental health professionals.

The ePrescribe tool allows clinicians to prescribe medications, review patients' medication histories, and manage refills directly within the SimplePractice system.

This integration aims to streamline the workflow for mental health professionals by merging prescription management with existing practice management features.

Jonathan Seltzer, president of SimplePractice, stated, “Both SimplePractice and Luminello were founded by clinicians who understood the administrative burdens faced by practitioners. Introducing ePrescribe is a step forward in our commitment to addressing these challenges and building trust within the psychiatric community.”

Addressing Administrative Burdens

SimplePractice's move comes in response to the increasing demand for mental health services and the administrative challenges practitioners face.

A 2023 survey by the company revealed that 75% of mental health professionals experiencing burnout were reluctant to take on more acute cases, largely due to administrative overload.

In light of these issues, SimplePractice aims to support solo and small-group practitioners by easing administrative tasks. The company has experienced significant growth, expanding its customer base by over 50% in the past two years.

In addition to the launch of ePrescribe, SimplePractice has also introduced a continuing education subscription and a mentor matchmaking pilot program in California.

SimplePractice currently serves around 200,000 health and wellness practitioners. The company's focus remains on enhancing its platform to support the needs of mental health professionals and improve overall practice management efficiency.
